Jeffrey Yergler, MD is an Orthopedic Surgeon with Ascendant Orthopedic Alliance. Dr. Yergler grew up in the Michiana area and returned after school to be with his family. You may recognize the name Yergler, because his father was an orthopedic surgeon in the South Bend area and his brother is also an orthopedic surgeon with Ascendant. You could say it runs in the family.
Creativity and working with his hands started early for Dr. Yergler. As a child, he won several awards in art for drawing and painting. Dr. Yergler knew that he wanted to be orthopedist from watching his father practice. He attended the University of Michigan for undergrad, Indiana University for medical school, Duke for his residency and finished his fellowship in Total Joints at Rush University. He continues to specialize in total joint replacements. He finds relieving pain and helping his patients regain their quality of life and mobility rewarding.
When not replacing hips and knees, Dr. Yergler likes to spend his free time with his wife and four children. The family enjoys attending sporting events at Notre Dame. Their favorites to attend are football and hockey.
Dr. Yergler hopes that continued improvement and advancements in implant technology and rapid rehabilitation protocols will continue for the next 10-20 years. Since there are many baby boomers, there are more joint replacements performed every year. He would like to continue to see the procedures be reliable with high patient satisfaction.
