Dr. Brian Moloney Named Select Health Network’s Medical Director
Ernest Hemingway described Paris as a moveable feast. Dr. Brian Moloney would agree with that. If not named Medical Director at Select Health Network, he and his wife, Susie, would have moved to the City of Light, happily exploring the art galleries and restaurants of the 6th arrondissement.
Instead, Dr. Moloney is looking forward to his new role, which follows a long and successful private practice.
Dr. Moloney completed his medical education at Georgetown University in 1976. After his residency at SJRMC in 1979, he was in private practice for 15 years. He continued his career at SJRMC.
His medical interests include patient education and helping clients comply with their treatment plan. Population health management is a recent area of interest.
He grew up in Chicago, the oldest of five children and knew in high school that he wanted to be a physician. But he was not a typical pre-med student, opting to study psychology, English and philosophy.
The blizzard of 78 remains a favorite memory of his residency. He said the residents had to run the hospital as the severe weather prevented attending physicians from making it in to work.
Dr. Moloney and his wife have three children, Megan, Kevin and Colin. Megan attended Indiana University while Kevin and Colin graduated from Purdue University. Both Megan and Kevin received their PhD’s from Georgia Tech. Dr. Moloney and Susie are the proud grandparents of three.
His hobbies include gardening and reading and traveling and his favorite sports team is GU Hoyas Basketball. Dr. Moloney was a founding father of Select Health Network in 1994 and has served on the board of directors and the credentialing committee from the very beginning.
And there’s always Paris…..as a favorite vacation spot.
